Hanergy Thin Film Power Group announced a collaboration with CSR Group, the largest roof tiles producer and roofing solution provider in the Southern Hemisphere, in preparation for a global launch of the new Thin Film Flat SOLARtile. The two companies have officiall commenced the presales of Thin Film Flat SOLARtile in Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia, Japan and the United States.
Unlike the curve shape of HanTile, Thin Film Flat SOLARtile is flat and has a square shape, which enables the house to meet local housing standards and harmonize better with the neighborhood. It adopts CROSS BOND structure, where the tile-to-tile interlock is put right in the middle of next row’s tile to ensure best waterproof performance. Junction boxes are covered by 2-mm steel, and safe trays are used to protect cables.
“We’re particularly excited about the launch of Thin Film Flat SOLARtile in the global market. We’re confident that our latest solar roof tiling solution will set a new standard in the global solar market,” said Mr. Lv Yuan, VP of Hanergy Thin Film Power Group. “Further, we’re thrilled to join forces with CSR group and hope to create yet another case study pronouncing the huge success of our soon to be launched solar roof tiling solution.”
Using CIGS thin-film, the Thin Film Flat SOLARtile can achieve conversion efficiency as high as 18.7%.
News item from Hanergy
I’d like to see something like “For the first quarter of 2019, material costs run about $3.00/sq-ft or $5.50/W.” Gross costing information like this allows those interested in solar panels to determine if their project is even feasible with this technology. My feeling is that integrated solar roofing is not cost competitive with other solutions; and my opinion is unlikely to change until some number is published; so I can get a handle on the scope of cost. Most of us agree that manufacturers who don’t produce some kind of cost data really hope you don’t ask. I can’t make selections without data and I won’t contact every provider that wants a complete spec for a quote. Down-selection is a natural process even non-technical people are naturally drawn to. (Of course I understand the author probably asked; just saying.)
